    Homecoming Mums

It's Homecoming week in Wylie, TX, and you know what that means...mums! I bet you thought I was going to say football. :-)

We had to find someone to make a mum this year for the kiddo's homecoming date. Luckily for me, I found Edith. Now, you can very easily stop by at a grocery or craft store and order a mum. But if you order from Edith, you will be getting something better for much less money.

The kiddo and his date are both in band and play trumpet. Edith not only included a little bear playing a trumpet, but lots of musical notes hanging among the ribbons. There are so many cute little treasures included...lots of bells, a bottle of bubbles, a lucky rabbit's foot, a whistle...and so much more. This mum is so big, I had to lay down on the floor to get a good photo of the whole thing!

If you are needing to buy a homecoming mum in the DFW area (she's not just in Wylie), please call or email Edith. I ordered this one yesterday and she had it ready for me today...awesome!

Edith's phone number is 972-272-9792 and her email address is TXwildFIRE6977@aol.com.

    Baby Miranda

I finally got some time with little Miranda last weekend, just over a month old now. I had a maternity session with her mommy, Gaby, right before she was born and I could not wait to meet her in person!
Miranda did not want to sleep for us...she was much too interested in that big blob in front of her face (aka my camera lens) to take a nap.

I caught this adorable moment between Miranda and her big brother Sebastian...so cute!

    Thank Heaven For Little Girls!

The Mulberry Bush - Wylie, TX

These days, most of us are on a budget. In order to compensate for the higher gas and grocery prices lately, we sometimes have to cut back on other things...things like clothing and toys for our children. Luckily for all you parents in DFW, there are some fantastic resale shops that can help you find some really great gently used items while making your dollar stretch.
I've visited several resale children stores since starting Marcy Jordan Photography. They are great places to find props and ideas for my photo sessions. One of the best is located in Wylie, TX.

The Mulberry Bush is packed to the brim with children's clothing and the cutest toys. I'm telling you, the prices are unbelievable...you could buy a whole fall wardrobe for your little one at the same price that it would cost you to buy one outfit at Baby Gap.

Right now they've got quite a few outfits for Halloween, including some really cute costumes.
Check out the little chicken costume...I drooled over that for about 5 minutes. :-)

You can find maternity clothing and school clothes that meet uniform and/or dress code requirements.

They also have an impressive collection of strollers that are in amazing condition.

The Mulberry Bush is located at 800 Park Blvd in Wylie, TX. Their phone number is 972-941-8107. Give them a call for their store hours. Ann is the owner and she is so helpful and sweet.

The Mulberry Bush is a fantastic store. Stop by for a little shopping and see for yourself. Be sure to tell Ann that I sent you. :-)

    Fun with Cookies...and Garlic

The kiddo and I made cookies today and I thought I'd use that as an excuse to practice my food photography. You know, for when the cookbook world discovers me. :-)

I'm not a cook...my fantastic husband makes all the meals for us. But I must say that I am a decent baker. These chocolate chip cookies are my specialty, I get requests for them. Okay, only from the kiddo...but still. The recipe is super top secret, so you'll just have to stare longingly at the pictures...or book a session with Marcy Jordan Photography and maybe I'll bring some along for you to taste. What? A little bribery never hurt anyone, right? :-)

Best eaten straight out of the oven for maximum gooey-ness.

Don't worry, these last two were not used in the cookies...I just liked how the photos turned out.

    Garlic...

    ...and apple.

    My Kiddo

Those of you who know me personally have asked me why I don't have any pictures of my own kiddo on my website and blog. The answer is simple...the boy won't smile. In a picture, that is. He smiles all the time otherwise, but the minute I put my camera in front of my face...no more smile. He does that face I like to call "Teenage Tough Guy". If you have a teenage son, you know the face I'm talking about.

Happily, I captured a couple good ones of him without the frown...just snapshots, but I still love them. I have to thank his Grammy for these two pics. Last Saturday he had to get up early for a Band March-A-Thon to raise funds for a trip to Florida. His Grammy pledged a donation under the condition that she get a before and after picture.

Here you go Mom...and all of the internet. After he finds out I posted these, I'll probably never get another smile out of him again...so enjoy. LOL

Check out that shark tooth necklace. Scary. Oh, and the t-shirt says "Friends Don't Let Friends Play Woodwinds"...or something like that. He's a trumpet player. :-)
Here's the after shot...there are doughnuts in the bag. Looking pretty good after marching 5 miles, right?

Wedding Day - Annett & Jose

Annett & Jose's big day finally arrived on July 26! The wedding took place at beautiful City Place in Dallas. The day was filled with incredible moments...here are a couple of my favorite detail shots.

And just as they promised, the bride and groom filled the wedding and reception with fantastic music. Check out their grand entrance to the reception...Jose broke out the old school moves!
This couple definitely knows how to throw a great party.

Annett and Jose, I am so very honored that you chose Marcy Jordan Photography to help capture your wedding day memories.

    Congratulations and best wishes!
