    Ben - 2009 Senior

I have really gotten behind on my blogging! I'll try to catch up in the next couple of weeks...but with the holidays looming, please be patient with me!

Today's spotlight is on Ben, who is a 2009 Senior. Ben's parents have friends that live on a beautiful piece of property nearby, and they were generous enough to let us do his session there and even use their awesome car as a prop!

Sometimes teenage boys can be a bit reluctant to pose and spend two hours getting their picture taken. But Ben was really laid back and totally cool with me from the beginning. I am so lucky that his parents picked me to capture his Senior photos!

I took several of Ben with his sunglasses on...when he looked out the car window and smiled at me, his mom said "That is SO Ben!" :-)

I just love these with the guitar...

Ben had an awesome class ring...it flipped so that he could have two different looks...so cool. Made even cooler with the classic car.

Enjoy the rest of your Senior year Ben, and good luck in the future!

    Baby Rhian

Here's is lovely little Rhian. I had a session with her awhile back on her 4 month birthday.

She was everything a photographer hopes for in a baby! She rarely fussed and slept through most of the session.

    I just love baby feet!

Rhian may be tiny, but she has an old soul's eyes...such a beautiful girl!
One more of her precious little tootsies!

Drake, American Gangster - Halloween Drawing Winner

Drake's mom was my 2nd winner for the Halloween portrait session. She told me that he was going to be wearing an American Gangster costume. I could not wait to see what Drake looked like! I had visions of The Godfather and Al Pacino dancing through my head, and Drake did not disappoint!

His costume came complete with a gun, cigar and the coolest hat ever.

    Drake really got into character!

This one was his Mom's favorite.

I told him to give me a bad mobster face...and look how well he pulled it off!

Drake, you were such a good sport and so cute! I hope you got tons of candy on Halloween!

Lili the Sassy Witch - Halloween Drawing Winner

Miss Lili's mom was one of my two Halloween portrait session winners. We met up last weekend for her session and she had the cutest witch costume ever! Lili seemed pretty shy when I first met her, but it did not take long for her to warm up to me. Her mom asked her if she was a good witch or a bad witch...Lili said she was a bad witch, but I think she is really a sassy witch! :-)

We found this wonderfully huge old tree for Lili to climb, and that is where we stayed for the whole session. I love it when the kiddos I photograph are willing to climb, run and be spontaneous for the camera. Lili was more than willing to do all that with the kind of charm only an almost 4 year old can have.

I think Mom was tickled to see all of Lili's impulsive and creative poses. She decided pretty quickly that her witch's hat was just not working with her ideas, so we ditched it early in the session. :-)

I really love this next one...a little bit of serious face for a tiny moment.

    Have a fantastic Halloween Lili!

    Creepy & Fascinating

My husband and I took a drive on Saturday with plans to get out into the country and take some scenic photos. We ended up at an antique store instead, because I'm addicted to them and my husband is indulgent. :-)

This is not your typical antique shop.

There are dozens and dozens of these really creepy dummies...not really mannequins, because they all have different faces, hair and clothing. And I mean these are creepy in a totally awesome that-dummy-is-staring-at-me kind of way. This is the kind of place I'd equally love and hate to be exploring in the dark of night. Perfect for this time of year.

But besides the dummies, they have some really fascinating stuff...things that are perfect for photography. Like this bicycle...that I totally wanted my husband to buy for me but he wouldn't because apparently $375 is too much for an old bicycle...in his opinion.

They also have this old Chinese war plane sitting outside in front of the building.

The photographer in me fell in love with the repetition of their displays.

If you think you know the place I'm talking about, leave a comment and if you are right I'll give you 30% off your next portrait session fee.

    Winners!

I had so many entries for the free Halloween portrait session that I picked two winners. Congratulations to Debra and Shanna! I look forward to meeting you and your kiddos!

I'll be posting my favorites from these sessions soon...but until then, check out my ghostly cemetery picture to get in you the Halloween mood.

    Oooooo, scary sun flare! :-)

Drawing for a Free Portrait Session

Okay all you ghosts and goblins, Halloween is just around the corner. To celebrate this fun time of year, I'm having a drawing for a free Halloween portrait session.

All you have to do is email me at info@marcyjordan.com with your name, contact information and your child's age. The winner will receive a portrait session at the location of my choice, along with one free 8x10 print. I will be drawing randomly on Sunday, October 12, for a winner.

To qualify, your child must be between the ages of 0-12 years old and they must wear their Halloween costume for the photos. I will be posting photos of the winner here on the blog and on the Marcy Jordan Photography website.

Stay tuned to the blog...I'll be announcing my holiday season specials and unveiling this year's holiday cards soon!

    Homecoming Mums

It's Homecoming week in Wylie, TX, and you know what that means...mums! I bet you thought I was going to say football. :-)

We had to find someone to make a mum this year for the kiddo's homecoming date. Luckily for me, I found Edith. Now, you can very easily stop by at a grocery or craft store and order a mum. But if you order from Edith, you will be getting something better for much less money.

The kiddo and his date are both in band and play trumpet. Edith not only included a little bear playing a trumpet, but lots of musical notes hanging among the ribbons. There are so many cute little treasures included...lots of bells, a bottle of bubbles, a lucky rabbit's foot, a whistle...and so much more. This mum is so big, I had to lay down on the floor to get a good photo of the whole thing!

If you are needing to buy a homecoming mum in the DFW area (she's not just in Wylie), please call or email Edith. I ordered this one yesterday and she had it ready for me today...awesome!

Edith's phone number is 972-272-9792 and her email address is TXwildFIRE6977@aol.com.

    Baby Miranda

I finally got some time with little Miranda last weekend, just over a month old now. I had a maternity session with her mommy, Gaby, right before she was born and I could not wait to meet her in person!
Miranda did not want to sleep for us...she was much too interested in that big blob in front of her face (aka my camera lens) to take a nap.

I caught this adorable moment between Miranda and her big brother Sebastian...so cute!

    Thank Heaven For Little Girls!
